    CLINICAL INTERESTS; Dr. Grossman is a cardiologist and director of the Center for Prevention of Heart and Vascular Disease at Mission Bay. He is the Charles and Helen Schwab Endowed Chair in Preventive Cardiology at UCSF and a former chief of Cardiology at UCSF Medical Center. He specializes in treatments to prevent the development or progression of heart disease and cares for patients with hypertension (high blood pressure), dyslipidemia (abnormal cholesterol), coronary artery disease (previous or recent heart attack and angina), valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy and heart failure.

    RESEARCH INTERESTS; Dr. Grossman has been a pioneer in research on diastolic function of the heart, and causes of cardiac muscle hypertrophy. He has also done research on the development of new treatments for heart failure, and valvular heart disease. He is editor of the textbook "Grossman's Cardiac Catheterization, Angiography and Intervention," which remains a standard in the field.
