David Naeger, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he also serves as the Department of Radiology's Associate Chair for Education and the co-director of the Henry I. Goldberg Center for Advanced Imaging Education. Dr. Naeger’s focus on education includes the education of medical students, residents, fellows, practicing radiologists, and other faculty. In the realm of medical student education, Dr. Naeger serves on the Committee on Curriculum and Educational Policy (CCEP) and as the Course Director for three senior students electives, including the most popular elective offered by the medical school, Radiology 140.03 "Diagnostic Radiology". In the realm of continuing medical education, Dr. Naeger has been the Course Director and an instructor in numerous national and international courses. Dr. Naeger participates in the Department's Faculty Mentoring program, teaches other faculty in the Speaker Training Course and Junior Faculty Orientation Course.

In 2015, Dr. Naeger was awarded the prestigious Academic Senate Distinction in Teaching Award given to only two UCSF faculty members per year across the entire institution. He was inducted into the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators in 2014 in recognition of his substantial contributions to medial education in the Department.

Dr. Naeger’s research and interests consist of two main focus areas. First, he is interested in developing, evaluating, and publishing about novel curricular programs that enhance the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing radiologists. Second, Dr. Naeger publishes on the clinical considerations in the daily interpretation of radiologic images, with an emphasis on the imaging and diagnosis of lung cancer.

Dr. Naeger has authored over 60 publications accepted or in press, 6 book chapters, over 40 abstracts, and multiple non-peer reviews publications and teaching aids.

Dr. Naeger is a member of 7 professional societies, and has served numerous roles including serving on multiple executive committees, program planning committees, and an educational grant study section.

Dr. Naeger has given over 30 national and international lectures and numerous Grand Rounds presentations.

Dr. Naeger reviews for 6 medical journals including Radiology, RadioGraphics, Academic Radiology, and the Journal of Thoracic Imaging, and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal Radiology.
