Dr. Lawson is a pediatric rheumatologist at the University of California, San Francisco, where she joined the faculty in 2012. She provides care to children, teens and young adults with chronic rheumatic diseases, with a special focus on systemic lupus erythematosus. Dr. Lawson’s main research interest is the improvement of long-term outcomes and access to care for individuals with childhood-onset rheumatic diseases. Her current work seeks to predict long-term health, social and vocational outcomes of childhood-onset lupus, and to smooth the transition to adulthood for young adults with childhood-onset rheumatic disease through improved health care access and self-management. In addition to caring for patients and conducting research, Dr. Lawson serves as Program Director for the UCSF Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship.
