My research program at UCSF has focused on human subjects’ and translational research related to interstitial lung disease (ILD), in particular idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). I have worked to better understand the role of gastroesophageal reflux and microaspiration in IPF. I have also developed a strong interest in connective tissue related ILD, in particular rheumatoid arthritis related ILD (RA-ILD). I am interested in the pathobiologic and clinical similarities of some forms of RA-ILD to IPF. As part of my training, I received a Masters in Advanced Studies Degree in Clinical Research at UCSF to learn the tools of clinical research and have been recently accepted into the UCSF KL2 Scholars Program.
