Prior to joining RMS, Mae served as Grants Analyst with the Diabetes Center and as the Research Services Manager of the Diabetes Center\ITN Business Research Unit when it was established as part of a University-wide Quality Improvement Program in 2005. In this position, Mae worked closely with faculty from the Diabetes Center, Endo-Metab Division, and Microbiology-Immunology in all aspects of pre-award activities including the role of authorized signing institutional official for all federal and non-federal grant submissions, and award acceptance. She also worked with respective financial officers to ensure that reports and correspondence with agencies were submitted in a timely manner. Mae’s position in the BRU gave her the opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of vital institutional and funding agency dynamics relevant to the preparation, coordination and management of grant applications. Her experience covers a broad range of simple to complicated Federal and Non-Federal grant mechanisms.
Mae graduated from the University of the Cordilleras- Baguio Colleges Foundation with a BA in English and, the St. Louis University, Baguio City with an MA in Literature. She was a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences at BCF for 14 years before moving to the US in 1998 with her family. She started working at UC San Francisco in the same year.
