Dr. Marisol Romero is an advanced postdoctoral fellow at CAS, who specializes in Pediatric Consultation and Eating Disorders at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH). Dr. Romero was born in Mexico and moved to California with her family as migrant field workers. She earned her BA in Psychology at the University of California, Irvine. She then worked for several years as part of the child life program at UCI Medical Center before completing her Masters in clinical psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Romero next worked as an MFT, serving a wide range of underserved populations impacted by trauma and chronic and/or acute illnesses. She also worked as clinical supervisor of a non-profit organization aimed at helping Latina mothers (with children ages 0-5) struggling with substance abuse and/or a diagnosis of HIV. Dr. Romero went on to complete her doctorate (Psy.D) in clinical psychology and continued to pursue her interest in pediatric psychology. She completed an externship at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA), working as part of a multidisciplinary team in the hematology/oncology department. Dr. Romero underwent her pre and postdoctoral training at UCSF Child and Adolescent Services, where she specialized in pediatric consultation and behavioral health integration.
