    Maythem M. Saeed, DVM, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor and Co-Director of the Interventional Radiology Research Laboratory in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Saeed completed his DVM from the University of Baghdad in Iraq, and he received his MS in Physiology from the University of Baghdad. He obtained his PhD in Applied Physiology from the University of Freiburg in Germany, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Applied Physiology from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and a postdoctoral fellowship in Radiology from the University of California, San Francisco.

    Dr. Saeed’s research interests are focused on: endovascular magnetic catheter for interventional MRI; distal coronary microembolization; MR-guided gene therapy; endovascular biopsy; thermal tissue ablation in the interventional high frequency ultrasound (HIFU) MRI environment. Dr. Saeed also has research interests in the assessment of cerebral micro infarct using MRI and MDCT, the prevention of non-target embolization during hepatic radioembolization with vasopressin, MR contrast media, and vascular atherosclerosis and aneurism.

    Dr. Saeed has focused on extensive grant writing with different groups at UCSF for experimental studies and publications. Dr. Saeed has 163 published articles, 24 book chapters, 361 abstracts, and 8 significant publications.
