    I am a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Neurology, University of California San Francisco. I completed my M.D. from Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany, the largest university hospital in Europe, and my M.D./Ph.D., for which I was associated with the Clinical Neuroimmunology Department of the Cluster of Excellence NeuroCure at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

    Coming from a research background focusing mostly on the development of new diagnostic instruments for multiple sclerosis (MS) and related disorders, I am now planning to strongly endorse my scientific understanding of both basic research and clinical trials in order to foster my future translational career. My major areas of interest are 1.) the understanding of afferent visual system involvement in MS and related disorders, 2.) the utilization of the afferent visual system as the ideal model to clarify structure-function associations and the functional relevance of different disease components and 3.) the development of neuroprotective and regenerative therapies for MS. Especially developing a regenerative therapy for MS patients to improve their functional abilities is my personal goal and it made me want to dedicate my career towards translational MS research. Long-term, I want to help contribute scientifically to a faster diagnostic process and an improved treatment in MS whilst simultaneously becoming the best possible MS specialist for my patients.
