Overview I am a primary care geriatrician seeing patients through the UCSF Care at Home program. I focus on older adults with dementia, significant mobility problems, and other illnesses that leave them unable to easily leave their homes. I prioritize practicing care that takes into accounts patients' unique medical histories, cognitive abilities, health literacy, and goals of care.
One day a week, I also see patients in the hematology-oncology clinic. I perform comprehensive assessments for patients who are preparing for bone marrow transplants, to help maximize their cognitive health and daily life function as they face serious illness and challenging treatments.
I also am interested in medical education, particularly teaching communication skills and clinical reasoning. I enjoy working with learners of all types, including medical students, nurses, residents, fellows, and anyone else who wants to learn about the care of older adults.
