I am a primary care doctor and a geriatrician. I currently care for patients at the San Francisco VA's Community Living Center (a nursing home). Previously, I have been a primary care doctor for patients through UCSF's Care at Home program and at Highland Hospital's adult medicine clinic in Oakland.

I focus on older adults with dementia, significant mobility problems, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other complex illnesses. I prioritize practicing care that takes into accounts patients' unique medical histories, cognitive abilities, understanding of their own health, and goals of care. I enjoy getting to know my patients as human beings.

I also am interested in medical education, particularly teaching communication skills and clinical reasoning. I enjoy working with learners of all types, including medical students, nurses, residents, fellows, and anyone else who wants to learn about the care of older adults. I teach through writing, presentations, facilitating groups, and on-the-job clinical experiences.
