Matthew Kiok MD, MPH is a PGY-3 resident physician in the department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He is a graduate of LSUHSC New Orleans Medical School in 2018 and completed a transitional year at Mountainview Hospital in Las Vegas, NV before coming to UCSF. He obtained his MPH from UC Berkeley in 2020 while performing clinical duties as a physician. His interests include the prevention and treatment of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, management of acute and chronic chemical exposures, and innovative practice models in occupational medicine.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he is working closely with the medical director of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital to protect front line doctors and nurses from disease, trace contacts of known infected individuals, and institute both quarantines and return to work guidance. He is actively advocating for resident physician protection and fighting against the culture of retaliation against doctors who speak out about unsafe work conditions. He is a proud member of the resident labor union CIR-SEIU.
