    Collapse overview
Dr. Maya Graham is a neuro-oncologist and physician scientist who cares for patients with brain tumors, with a particular focus on gliomas.
Her research centers on developing stem cell–based models of both pediatric and adult gliomas to better understand how epigenetics (changes in how a tumor’s genetic code is organized and expressed) contributes to tumor formation, disease progression and treatment resistance. She hopes this work will uncover new targeted therapies for patients. Her research is currently funded by an NIH-NINDS K08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award. During her postdoctoral training, she received funding from numerous foundations, including the Matthew Larson Foundation, the Hyundai Hope on Wheels Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Dr. Graham received her MD and PhD degrees from Northwestern University, followed by Neurology residency training at the Mass General Brigham program at Harvard, where she served as a chief resident. She then pursued neuro-oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she remained as junior faculty while completing postdoctoral research.

She is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology, where she serves on the early career leadership development subcommittee, and the Society for Neuro-Oncology, where she is a co-host of “Neuro-Oncology: The Podcast.” She is also an avid teacher, having received the Jerome B. Posner Neurology Resident Teaching Award for outstanding instruction of medical students, interns, and residents by The Department of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2024.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication.
