My passion in healthcare is in improving care for people at the end of life. At Tideswell at UCSF, we develop health professionals’ quality improvement, research, and leadership skills to positively influence the care of seriously ill individuals. Our programs include a national leadership development program for healthcare professionals, evaluation of clinical models aimed at delivering high quality care, community engagement and training programs for informal caregivers, and The National Home-based Primary Care and Palliative Care Network, which has established quality metrics for home-based medical care.
In my role as Deputy Director, I oversee these programs and connect with external partners to accomplish our mission of improving care at the end of life.

I have twelve years of experience in palliative care research and program development. Prior to joining UCSF in 2012, I led clinical research studies for the Duke University Center for Palliative Care and worked with patients near the end of life to improve communication with their doctors and define goals of care.
