Overview Shalini Patel, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS). She serves as the Chief of Primary Care at SFVAHCS and oversees the delivery of primary care at the main medical center and 6 community clinic sites. She continues to provide direct clinical primary care in the Downtown San Francisco and San Bruno community VA clinic, where she is the Medical Director. Dr. Patel is interested in underserved, homeless and rural populations and systems for primary care delivery in those settings. She has worked with the Center of Excellence in Primary Care Education at the SFVAHCS and has focused on team-based interprofessional care.
