Dr. J-T Tina Chen is a critical care specialist and pulmonologist who cares for seriously ill patients and supports their loved ones in the intensive care unit (ICU). She specializes in treating acute respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (impaired breathing due to inflammation in the lungs), sepsis (a life-threatening response to infection) and septic shock (dangerously low blood pressure resulting from sepsis). Believing that critical care is best delivered by a team, she helps coordinate care among various specialty services.

Chen's research focuses on improving care delivery in the ICU. She has worked to develop national standardized practices on managing shock and measures compliance to care guidelines in the ICU through data analysis.

Chen earned her medical degree and a master's degree in clinical research methods at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at New York – Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Prior to joining UCSF, she worked at the Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she was the director of the medical intensive care unit.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
