Dr. David Becker is a primary care physician and specialist in working with children with chronic pain, chronic medical conditions and behavioral and mental health. He is an associate clinical professor in the UCSF Department of Pediatrics and the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. In his primary care practice at the Mt. Zion clinic he sees children for routine primary care, health maintenance and acute care issues. In his consultation clinic at the Osher Center he sees children with a variety of chronic and complex medical issues and behavioral and mental health issues. In his psychotherapy practice (not affiliated with UCSF) he is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern seeing adults and children for psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, and interpersonal problems.
Dr. Becker has specialty training in integrative medicine through the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine, additional training in a range of self-regulation and mind-body skills, as well as additional training in pain management. He completed a master’s degree in clinical psychology in 2013.
He completed his medical degree, master's in public health and pediatric residency training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; the associate fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; and a master’s degree in clinical psychology at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. He also completed the Teaching Scholars Program at UCSF. He has a background in global humanitarian aid work and spent a year overseas with Doctors Without Borders.
