I'm a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician with over two decades of experience in primary care, veterans' health, and public health leadership. My career has spanned military medicine, the VA health system, and national health initiatives — with a particular focus on women's health, preventive care, and health care innovation.
Currently, I serve as Deputy Director of the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program and as Medical Director for the Oakland and San Francisco VA Health Care Systems, where I've worked to improve outcomes and drive system-level change. My on-the-ground initiatives have included developing automated screening tools, creating emergency contraception policies, and introducing lactation pods to VA clinics.
My work has been recognized with the Robert L. Jesse Award for Excellence in Innovation (2025), the American College of Gastroenterology Grand Service Award (2024), and a Northern California Emmy® Award (2023–2024). I hold additional certifications in Health Care Data Analytics, Lean Six Sigma, and Geriatrics, and I serve on advisory and leadership committees at the national VA level through PCORI and VACO.
