Camryn Thompson, MD, is an ophthalmology resident at the University of California, San Francisco. She earned both her bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry and her medical degree from Duke University, where she received the Dean’s Tuition Merit Scholarship. Her research interests span retina, ophthalmic surgery outcomes, and representation within academic ophthalmology. She has also presented her work at regional and national ophthalmology meetings. During medical school, Camryn held several leadership roles, including serving as co-president of Duke ASPIRES, where she organized surgical education and mentorship programming. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped lead a national organization that mobilized thousands of health-professions students to support hospitals and public-health departments. In residency, she is undergoing rigorous surgical and clinical education while honing her research interests.
