    Daniel Ballarin, CPO, is a certified prosthetist and orthotist with extensive experience in prosthetics.

    He earned his Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2005 and completed his post-graduate certification in prosthetics and orthotics at Northwestern University in 2006. Currently serving as a prosthetist and orthotist at UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

    Ballarin specializes in upper extremity prosthetics and leads the Technology and Innovations Committee. His work includes implementing advanced technologies such as 3D printing, scanning, and CAD/CAM to enhance patient outcomes. In addition, he has successfully brought 95% of in-house fabrication under his management.

    Throughout his career, Ballarin has worked with diverse patient populations, providing care for individuals with various levels of limb loss, including pediatric and inpatient cases. He has a strong focus on technical innovation, having obtained a patent for a rock climbing safety device, and he is currently developing a pneumatic adjustable prosthetic socket. His passion for problem-solving and creativity is also reflected in his personal projects, such as woodworking, metalworking, and environmental impact reduction.

    Dedicated to mentoring future practitioners, Ballarin has served in leadership roles, including as Northern California Residency Coordinator, and continues to inspire his colleagues and residents with his commitment to advancing the field of orthotics and prosthetics.
