    Dr. Bruce is a former public school music teacher turned psychiatrist originally from Maumee, Ohio. She earned a Bachelor of Choral Music Education degree from Indiana University. After teaching in Title I schools and recognizing the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on the educational and emotional well-being of her students, she decided to pursue a career in medicine.

    Dr. Bruce earned a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Western Michigan University while continuing to teach. She attended the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for medical school. During her residency, she completed the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Fellowship and Advanced Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Foundational Year at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. She also received the Herbert Schmale Outpatient Teaching Award and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Resident Award.

    Dr. Bruce is the emergency psychiatrist at Community Regional Medical Center. Her professional interests include emergency psychiatry, psychodynamic psychotherapy, medical education, and physician and trainee wellness.

    Dr. Bruce's greatest achievement is her family. She enjoys climbing playground equipment and exploring the outdoors with her husband and son, shopping for toys for her shelter pets, and cheering for the Indiana Hoosiers and Detroit Lions.
