    Collapse overview
Dr. Franziska Plessow is a cognitive neuroscientist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. She directs the ADAPT Lab (Advancing Discovery in Adaptability, Plasticity, and Therapeutics) and serves as Scientific Domain Lead for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation and Cognitive Phenotyping within the Translational Psychedelic Research Program. Dr. Plessow studies the biological substrates and cognitive processes that underlie cognitive control — the capacities that align behavior with current goals and anticipated demands. Her lab conducts mechanistic, multimodal studies integrating cognitive paradigms with neuroendocrine and neuroimmune assays, pharmacologic and noninvasive brain-stimulation probes, neuroimaging, and computational modeling to map when control adapts — or fails to adapt — to acute and chronic perturbations. One program identifies biological determinants and liabilities of adaptive control across internal and external contexts; a second examines how control dysregulation contributes to psychopathology. Her goal is to translate mechanistic insights into biomarker-anchored precision diagnostics and interventions that improve risk stratification, prevention, and treatment across conditions marked by control dysregulation, including stress-related disorders, eating and weight disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and obesity.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
