    Joshua E. Richardson, PhD, MS, MLIS, FAMIA is AI Strategy & Innovation Manager at the UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences, where he leads institutional AI strategic planning, develops cross-Center training programs on responsible generative AI workflows, and cultivates partnerships advancing AI adoption.

    Josh brings more than 15 years of health IT experience across academic medical centers, federal agencies, and research organizations, with deep expertise in EHR implementation, clinical decision support, and health IT training and education. He has led business and partner development as well as multi-phase deployments of FHIR-enabled digital health tools across specialty and outpatient settings. Over his career, he has designed and delivered health IT education, role-based training programs for physicians, nurses, patients, and staff across inpatient, outpatient, and home care environments, led coursework on qualitative methodologies, and facilitated group training in innovation.

    A Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA) and co-chair for Mobilizing Computable Biomedical Knowledge for North America (2024-2026), Josh is recognized nationally for his contributions to health IT adoption and use, clinical informatics, clinical decision support, and digital health governance and trust.
