My nursing career began in the intensive care unit (ICU) as a newly licensed registered nurse and transferred into the neurological surgical intensive care unit at a comprehensive stroke center. Over a 20-year career in nursing, I provided direct patient care for the first decade and the second decade I have held a number of leadership positions including, leading operational programs within critical care environments, clinical nurse educator, hospital service line operational director, nursing practice and education consultant and currently the Director of Nursing Professional Development at UCSF Health. I have a background in prehospital emergency care as a firefighter/paramedic, fire department training officer, training manager for a private OSHA consulting firm, and continue my passion for advancing collaborative education opportunities and leadership at all levels within the nursing profession. I hold a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Education, and a Doctor Degree in Executive Leadership for Nursing Practice.
