Nicole Kopari, MD, FACS, is an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, Fresno regional campus. She serves as the Director of the Leon S. Peters Burn Center at Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC).
Dr. Kopari received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota. She completed a general surgery residency at Michigan State University, followed by fellowships in Burn Surgery at the University of Washington and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Kopari joined the Department of Surgery faculty at UCSF Fresno in 2023. As a faculty member, she provides clinical and didactic education to medical students, residents, and fellows while leading one of the region's busiest burn centers.
Dr. Kopari's clinical and academic interests include quality improvement, acute burn care, burn reconstruction, trauma surgery, surgical critical care, and innovative wound management technologies, including autologous skin cell suspension and spray-on skin cell therapies. She has presented extensively at regional, national, and international meetings on burn care, trauma, quality improvement, and surgical education.
Dr. Kopari is an active member of several organizations, including the American Burn Association, the Association of Academic Surgery, and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. She reviews abstracts for the American Burn Association and also serves as a national faculty member for its Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) program.
