The relationship between patient medical conditions and peri-implant diseases

Description: In the systemic review analyzing the risk of dental implant failure for patients with a history of antidepressant use, it was found that using selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) may increase the risk of dental implant failure at both the patient and implant levels. Given the increased risk associated with SSRIs, greater attention is warranted in patient selection for those requiring dental implants.
The relationship between dental implants and the surrounding bone and adjacent teeth

    Role: Principal Investigator
Description: The goal of the project is to understand the immediate effect of osseodensification on the biomechanical properties of bone around dental implants. Regarding the relationship between implants and adjacent teeth, my study demonstrated a higher risk of tooth loss for teeth adjacent to implants compared to those not adjacent, suggesting that implant placement might contribute as an iatrogenic cause for future tooth loss. Therefore, increased attention is warranted in patient selection for those requiring dental implants. Furthermore, the development of a more effective dental maintenance-hygiene program and an emphasis on appropriate homecare are crucial in light of these findings.
