Overview
Dr. David Becker is a pediatrician who specializes in integrative medicine, behavioral health, and chronic pain conditions. He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Becker was a primary care pediatrician at UCSF for 15 years before fully transitioning to integrative medicine and behavioral health. His training beyond general pediatrics includes extensive training and practice with mind-body strategies, integrative medicine fellowship training, additional training in chronic pain management, and a master’s degree in clinical psychology leading to licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
Dr. Becker’s clinical practice encompasses three general areas. At the Osher Center he sees children and young adults with a range of chronic and complex medical issues, with a focus on chronic pain. Also at the Osher Center, he has a behavioral health counseling practice for children, families and young adults. This practice focuses on individuals with anxiety, depression and other behavior concerns, as well as family therapy. Finally, he also sees patients at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Pain Management Clinic. Dr. Becker teaches and lectures nationally and internationally on topics including integrative medicine, chronic pain management and mind-body strategies.
Dr. Becker completed his Medical degree, Master's in public health and pediatric residency training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Additional post-graduate training includes the Fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (the Wright Institute), Psychotherapy internship training at the San Francisco Psychotherapy Research Group, and additional training in mind-body skills and chronic pain management. He also completed the Teaching Scholars Program at UCSF. He has a background in global humanitarian aid work, including Doctors Without Borders and other relief organizations.
