Dr. Don Ng, Medical Director of Provider and Patient Experience at the General Medicine Clinic at the Osher Building on the Mount Zion Campus, is a primary care doctor who specializes in the cultural aspects of caring for Asian patients. Fluent in Cantonese, he helps educate patients about their illnesses and other health issues, particularly those affecting the Asian community such as Hepatitis B, cancer screening and smoking.
Ng joined UCSF in 1992 and is a clinical professor of medicine. He earned his medical degree at UC Davis and completed a residency in primary care internal medicine at Highland General Hospital in Oakland. He worked for 2 years at Asian Health Services in Oakland before coming to UCSF. In 2002, Ng took a year sabbatical to work with the Chinese community at On Lok Senior Services in San Francisco. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians.
