Joyce is an Operations and Training Officer for the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) and has worked in research administration for a little over 20 years. Since joining OSR, she has held the positions of Grant Analyst, Contract Analyst and Manager of the Pre-award Team. As the Manager of the Pre-award Team, she was the signing official for pre-award and administrative matters for fellowships, grants and cooperative agreements from non-profit and government sponsors. During her tenure as Manager of the Pre-award Team, Joyce participated in the development and immersion training of a new business unit within OSR, Research Management Services, now known as Proposals and Grants (P&G). P&G consists of ten teams responsible for providing pre-award services to the campus research community. In the role of Training Specialist, Joyce focused on building on-boarding training for new hires, and sustainable training programs for OSR staff (e.g., RA-101 Fundamental Research Administration, monthly essential trainings). She also participated on a work group tasked with developing a certification program to develop P&G staff to become signing officials. Joyce has been and continues to be involved in the development of the certification program, training programs, and standard operating procedures for OSR with her colleagues on the Operations and Training Team.

Prior to joining the OSR, Joyce was Assistant to the Division Administrator and Chiefs for the Divisions of Rheumatology and Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital (now Zuckerberg San Francisco General). Before beginning her adventures in Research Administration, Joyce held several private sector accounting positions performing financial reporting, training in revenue and payroll forecasting, and developing business plans.
