Michelle is the Assistant Director of Proposals and Grants and Institutional Contracts and Grants Officer in the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR). With 20+ years of research administration and overall pre and post award management experience, Michelle has worked with a wide variety of faculty and funding agencies such as the NIH, CIRM, DOD, NSF, and various non-profits from working at the UCSF Schools of Nursing and Dentistry, the UCLA CARE Center, and the UCSF School and Department of Medicine. In 2011, Michelle joined the UCSF Office of Sponsored Research as the Director of Research Administration Training to craft the training curriculum for the newly formed Research Management Services (RMS) unit but quickly realized that she enjoys working with faculty and Research Services Coordinators (RSCs)/RMS Associates and therefore joined RMS as a team manager for the A-Team at the conclusion of Operation Excellence Pre-Award roll out, during Phase 3 in August 2012. RMS Team A supports the departments of Anatomy, Biochemistry & Biophysics, Cellular & Molecular Pharmacology, Neurological Surgery, and Physiology. In September 2016, Michelle became a dual team manager when she took on the management of RMS Team J, which supports the departments of Family Community Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics. In September 2020, Michelle became the Assistant Director of Proposals and Grants (formally known as RMS) in the Office of Sponsored Research. In her new role, Michelle leads OSR Proposals and Grants Teams A/J, B/C, D/G, and TRAC. She will also work closely with Senior Leadership to ensure continued service strength and consistency across OSR through its day-to-day operations, as well as continue staff mentorship.

Michelle loves partnering with departments, as well as faculty and postdocs via Proposals and Grants, as well as the different central units at UCSF to streamline the research administration process. Michelle graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Political Science. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking/walking, biking and spending time with her friends and family.
