Maria Otto, MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF and Physician Lead for Ambulatory Informatics for UCSF Health. She is a practicing primary care physician in the Division of General Internal Medicine, where she teaches medical students and residents. She works to design and implement informatics solutions that support quality improvement, data science, provider satisfaction, and value of ambulatory care. Her current efforts include expanding structured data documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) to facilitate data capture that would not be possible with standard unstructured clinical documentation. She serves as physician lead for the Practice Efficiency and APeX Knowledge (PEAK) program, a deep-dive effort into UCSF ambulatory practices to optimize their use of the EHR and workflow, and improve provider satisfaction. Other interests include implementation science and ambulatory care innovation.
