Overview
Dr. Carlo De la Sancha is an anatomic and clinical pathologist, cytopathologist, and dermatopathologist who specializes in diagnosing disease through cellular examination of body tissues and fluids. To obtain samples for biopsy, he performs fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies – extracting cells with a needle and syringe from different areas of the body, such as the thyroid, breast, and lymph nodes – guided by palpation or ultrasound image.
De la Sancha’s research activities involve translational research in anatomic pathology with an emphasis in cytopathology and dermatopathology.
De la Sancha earned his medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma of Baja California, in México, and completed a medical residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Cytopathology at the University of California San Francisco, and a fellowship in dermatopathology at Indiana University School of Medicine.
De la Sancha is a member of the College of American Pathologists, United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Society of Cytopathology, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and the International Society of Dermatopathology.
