Understanding MEN4: Improved screening and functional assessment
    Mental Insight Foundation A142592Jan 1, 2024 - Dec 31, 2026
    Role: Principal Investigator
Description: The goal of this study is to (1) develop an improved testing algorithm based on functional readouts at the cellular level; (2) determine whether unrecognized MEN4 mutations are present in a wider group of patients who exhibit MEN characteristics but lack MEN1 mutations; and (3) screen for "second hit" co-factors that could influence tumor development in MEN4 patients.

Spatial profiling of scRNAseq signatures in human parathyroid glands
    Hypopara Foundation Hypopara-21-001-01Apr 1, 2021 - Mar 31, 2022
    Role: Co-PI
Description: The objective of this proposal is to identify the transcriptionally distinct cellular subpopulations that comprise human parathyroid tissue and map their physical locations in the gland utilizing scRNA sequencing and digital spatial profiling.
Pancreatic islet and parathyroid co-transplantation for treatment of diabetes in intramuscular sites
    California Institute of Regenerative Medicine 11437Jul 1, 2019 - Jun 30, 2023
    Role: Co-Investigator
Description: The first-in-man PARADIGM trial is aimed at evaluating the safety and efficacy of pancreatic islet and parathyroid gland composite grafts in the intramuscular site. The trial will enroll patients with Type 1 diabetes who are on stable immunosuppressive regimens with well-functioning kidney or liver transplants. We request CIRM CLIN2 award to conduct the PARADIGM trial, including enrollment, transplant, follow-up and mechanistic studies of 8 patients. This single-center trial will be conducted at UCSF, the busiest transplant center in the US with proven clinical excellence in islet transplantation. If successful, this study will help to overcome the engraftment barrier of islet transplantation and enable minimally invasive monitoring of islet grafts long-term.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
