Cathy is a Training Specialist for the Office of Sponsored Research. She trains and certifies the pre-award research administrators and supports personnel in the proposal process and award acceptance. Prior to her current role, she served as a Research Services Coordinator for Team A supporting the Neurological Surgery Department. She gained research administration experience submitting a wide range of proposal including applications to NIH, DARPA, DOD and private foundations

Before arriving at UCSF, Cathy was on the other side of the grant submission process, conducting research at Stanford University, University of Pittsburgh and UC Davis. As an investigator, she examined the brain circuits that contribute to visual perception, spatial stability and spatial attention. While at Pitt and Stanford, she submitted multiple proposals and received a few fellowships. She enjoys sharing her unique perspective as both a research administrator and as a PI with the OSR community.

Cathy holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh and B.S. in Biological Sciences and Psychology from UC Davis. She also completed the Project Management Certification program through University of California, Berkeley Extension. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and twin daughters.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
