    Dr. Thornton practices anesthesiology and critical care medicine at UCSF. He is dedicated to improving the quality of care that patients receive while in the ICU and helping patients and families navigate the often confusing environment that the modern ICU has become. He is deeply committed to education and serves as the Program Director for UCSF's Anesthesia Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program and is actively involved in teaching UCSF medical students, residents, and fellows in a variety of clinical and non-clinical environments. Additionally, he serves as the Co-Medical Director of the Intensive Cardiac Care Units.
