    Dr. Herfat joined UCSF in 2012 as the Director of the Biomechanical Testing Facility and became research faculty in 2014. His research has focused on the biomechanical testing of spine & trauma fracture fixation strategies. In 2016, he increased his involvement with the UCSF Institute for Global Orthopaedics & Traumatology (IGOT), leading the organization's Disruptive Innovations initiative. He also collaborates with colleagues from UCSF and UC Berkeley on developing implantable sensors for orthopaedic applications.
