Overview Susan D. Wall, MD is a Professor Emeritus of Radiology and Advisor to the Chair for Faculty Development at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Wall received her medical degree from UCSF where she completed a residency in Radiology (Chief Resident), a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and during a sabbatical while an Associate Professor also a one year fellowship in Interventional Radiology. She served as the Vice Chair of Radiology from 1988 to 2019.
Dr. Wall held the position of Associate Dean and then Senior Associate Dean for the UCSF School of Medicine for seven years prior to retiring to part-time in 2005. As the Associate Dean she oversaw all of Graduate Medical Education which included 73 nationally accredited programs and more than 1,300 trainees. As the Senior Associate Dean she additionally was responsible for the Medical Education Program at UCSF-Fresno. Dr. Wall has served on and chaired numerous committees both locally and nationally. For Radiology at UCSF she chaired the Merit and Promotions Committee for years. She created and chaired the Human Relations Committee which became a model for the School of Medicine and the University regarding professionalism. Nationally, Dr. Wall is past president of the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists where she was honored as the first woman to become the Annual Visiting Professor. Dr. Wall served as Chair of the Editorial Board of the Radiological Society of North America News (RSNA). She served on numerous committees for national academic societies including the Refresher Course Committee and the Publications Council for RSNA, the American College of Radiology Intersociety Conference, and the Steering Committee of the Group on Resident Affairs of the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC).
Dr. Wall is recognized nationally and internationally as an expert on Interventional Radiology, Abdominal Imaging, and Graduate Medical Education. She has published more than 130 manuscripts.
