My clinical focus is on women with liver disease, including pregnancy-related liver conditions. My research program is focused on the role of sex hormones on liver injury in women, including the effects of reproductive aging, pregnancy, and androgens. I have a specific interest in young women with the hyperandrogenic condition known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome given their high risk for developing Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and early onset liver scarring. Within the transplant setting I study sex differences in waitlist and post transplant outcomes.
