    I am a Professor In Residence in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology in the UCSF School of Medicine. I serve as the Co-Chair for the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Council for the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. I am the Co-Director of the UCSF Sickle Cell Center of Excellence and I am PI for the Sickle Cell Disease Implementation Consortium in Northern California. I also serve as Regional Director for the Pacific Sickle Cell Regional Collaborative. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and my research and clinical work has focused on improving quality of life, quality of care, patient reported outcomes and transition from pediatric to adult care for individuals living with sickle cell disease and their families. I lead an internationally recognized program of research focused on how social determinants, psychological and behavioral factors, and organizational structures and processes impact the health and well-being of populations affected by sickle cell disease.
