    Collapse overview
Dr. Nakano’s research explores the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control the formation and mineralization of bone, dentin, and enamel. Her work includes the regulation of phosphatases in bone mineralization, the differentiation of odontoblasts during dentin development, and how enamel formation is influenced by alternative splicing and splicing-derived microRNAs. By revealing how genetic mutations, alternative splicing, extracellular matrix proteins, signaling molecules, ion channels, microRNAs, and environmental factors affect craniofacial mineralization, her studies identify key mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for inherited and acquired defects in mineralized tissues.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication.
