Masis Isikbay, MD, received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2018. At UCSF, he completed his general surgery internship (2019), a diagnostic radiology residency (2023) during which he served as Chief Resident, and a neuroradiology fellowship (2024).

Dr. Isikbay has taught trainees of all levels by participating in courses offered by the UCSF School of Medicine, mentoring pre-medical and medical students, leading symposia with hands-on radiology training, and has lectured on the regional, national, and international level on a variety of education topics. He created the medical education website, www.stepwards.com, (with an accompanying YouTube.com channel) which hosts a broad range of content including diagnostic imaging search patterns, procedural videos and an online call preparation curriculum for radiology trainees worldwide for which he received an international RSNA education grant. Dr. Isikbay has also contributed to a variety of quality improvement projects such as body and neuro IR post procedure order sets, first-year resident rotation guides, and primers for new trainees in diagnostic and interventional radiology. His dedication to clinical work and education earned Dr. Isikbay the 2023 Elmer Ng Outstanding Resident in Diagnostic Radiology award.

Dr. Isikbay is a former NIH T-32 research scholar (2022-2023) whose work focuses on improving clinical care and spans a variety of topics including: the COVID-19 diagnostic pathway, machine learning mediated imaging post-processing, and diagnostic/procedural medical education. Dr. Isikbay worked with the UCSF neuroendovascular department to create an updated classification system for shunting arteriovenous lesions of the spine. He was nominated as one of 2023's most influential radiology researchers by AutMinnie.com.

Additionally, Dr. Isikbay is a deputy editor for the journal Radiology and was awarded the RSNA’s Olmstead Editorial Fellowship (2023-2024). Dr. Isikbay remains active in many different radiological societies serving on the neuroradiology practice parameters committee for the ACR and on the education committee for the ASNR.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
