Dr. Patterson received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and her MD from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She completed her post-doctoral training at UCSF, including internal medicine residency, rheumatology fellowship, and a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded post-doctoral fellowship in integrative medicine research. She currently holds a joint faculty position in the Division of Rheumatology and Osher Center for Integrative Health (OCIH). As a rheumatologist she specializes in integrative treatment approaches for managing systemic rheumatic conditions, and she practices in the UCSF Health Rheumatology and Osher Center clinics. Dr. Patterson’s scholarship is funded by the NIH and focuses on defining how lifestyle behaviors and non-pharmacologic interventions impact disease outcomes among people with rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus.
