Alexandra Apple is a neuropsychologist who cares for older adults and adults with early neurodegenerative disease. She specializes in cognitive assessment of a wide variety of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. In her therapy practice, she draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, problem-solving therapy and mindfulness-based practices to work collaboratively with her patients to improve functioning.

Apple also works with individuals and groups who want to improve their mood and sleep, as well as those who aim to enhance cognitive and everyday functioning through effective compensatory and coping strategies.

One of Apple's research interests is combining neuropsychological assessments and brain imaging to better understand cognitive decline. She is also interested in how to maintain cognitive abilities and resilience during normal aging. Her long-term goal is to use neuroimaging techniques to find behavioral and cognitive interventions that can make older people's brain function more resilient.

Apple earned her doctorate in psychology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in neuropsychology at UCSF.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
