Susanne Mueller, MD, is an Application Scientist at the Center for Imaging of Neurodegenerative Diseases at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Mueller obtained her MD from the University of Zurich in Switzerland. She completed a residency in Neurology from the University of Zurich in Switzerland, a residency in Internal Medicine from Hospital Neumunster in Zurich, Switzerland, and residency in Neurology from the University of Zurich in Switzerland, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Radiology from UCSF.

Presently, Dr. Mueller has research concentrating on three areas: advanced MR imaging acquisitions and processing methods in partial epilepsy, accurate early diagnosis of dementias and identification of treatable concomitant conditions using MRI/MRS, and the use of advanced imaging/spectroscopy methods to study mechanism of neurodegeneration. She has several research projects, which use advanced spectroscopic editing methods to study the influence of oxidative stress in the early manifestations of neurodegeneration and new functional imaging methods in combination with new analysis methods. These studies focus on the influence of epileptic spikes in the BOLD/CBF signal in the epileptogenic focus and in the brain networks attached to it.

Dr. Mueller serves as a reviewer for 17 scientific journals, she serves as a grant reviewer for 5 foundations, and she serves as a member of 4 professional societies.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
