       Overview
       Overview
All my current research involvement addresses clinical questions by studying human subjects or patients. I collaborate with other faculty in the department on all my research and provide expertise in the following areas: data analysis and statistics; mathematical modeling; data acquisition programming; human studies; respiratory physiology. Recent projects include the development of a model of Propofol and Remifentanyl induced apnea in order to identify factors that affect the risk of apnea and hypoxemia. Another recent study tested the accuracy of multi-wavelength pulse oximeter to detect methemoglobin. Current transfusion studies include a volunteer study examining the effects of transfusing stored vs. fresh autologous blood on lung function and inflammatory mediators. Clinical studies in the operating room and hospital track all patients who develop TRALI.
