Overview
Natural killer (NK) cells are critical members of our immune system that protect us from viral infections and cancers. They are innate lymphocytes that use cell surface NK receptors to distinguish between self and non-self (or altered-self). Upon identifying a target cell as harmful, NK cells release cytotoxic granules that directly kill the target cell. My lab investigates the roles that NK cell receptors play in recognizing pathogenic cells, including cancers and viral infection. In addition, we also are interested in understanding the mechanisms that lead to NK cells developing "adaptive" features, traits that can be harnessed to maximize NK cell effectiveness for immunotherapies.

Altmetrics Details
PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media.
(Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.)
Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication.
Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication.
Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.)
