Dr. Kornak received his BSc in Mathematics with Statistics (1996) and Ph.D. in Statistics (2000) from the University of Nottingham, UK. He spent time as a postdoc at UCSF and The Ohio State University before joining the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at UCSF in 2003. He transferred to Epidemiology and Biostatistics in July 2010.
He is a biostatistics faculty consultant and the Consultation Services Unit Director in Biostatistics at UCSF's Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI). Dr. Kornak's consulting work for the CTSI Consulting Service involves campus-wide statistical consultation and collaboration. The services he provides in that role include help with optimal experimental designs, data analysis, reporting of results, and drafting or editing grant and paper statistical sections. Biostatistical consultation projects that require significant statistical analysis require the coordination of statistical analysts via the development of appropriate analysis plans and the interpretation/dissemination of results.
